About Inverters
There is approximately a 10/1 ratio of power consumption through an inverter. This means that if you are using a 3,000 watt inverter at full load, you will be consuming approximately 300 amps of DC power. Since most factory alternators put out less than 150 amps, the battery system of your vehicle will be drained faster than it can be charged with the vehicle running.
Therefore, an alternator upgrade and/ or additional batteries must be added to your vehicle to make a 2,000 watt or higher alternator work properly.
