Critical
incidents mandate that your alternator works properly. If it does
not, you know that lives are jeopardized.
That
is why there is no other logical choice than the TCS-100 automatic
engine idler from RESPONSE
TECHNOLOGIES INC. to prevent alternator failures.
With
a solid-state modular design and no solenoid or cable to bind,
the TCS-100 senses, while your vehicle is at idle, when your alternator
output is diminished. When it does, the idler will increase the
engine speed in your vehicle to bring the alternator back up to
maximum output and prevent any drain on the battery.
When
the lives of victims and your personnel are at stake, take no
chances. Make sure you have a TCS-100 on board to ensure the integrity
of your vehicle's electrical system.
TCS-100
The TCS-100 is a solid state electronic sensing and control unit
that recognizes when the electrical load on a low idling vehicle
outpaces the output of the alternator and automatically elevates
the engine speed to prevent the vehicle's alternator from failing
and preventing crucial electrical circuits from shutting down
the vehicle.
- Solid
State Modular Design
The main components are the electric
control module and the control panel, which connect
with a data cable. The control panel mounts in a two
inch hole requiring only one inch of depth. The control
module is located underneath the dash and both components
attach with custom plugs for easy installation.
|
- Adjustable
Voltage
The control module includes a voltage
adjustment to vary the trigger voltage, if necessary.
|
- Led
Stoplight Compatible
The TCS-100 is fully-compatible with
the new LED stoplights now on many newer vehicles.
|
- Fully
Automatic Gas or Diesel
|
- No
Solenoid and cable to bind

- Universal
and Vehicle Specific Kits with factory connectors that
plug and can be installed in less than one hour.

The
Product
A solid state electric unit that will raise the vehicle's engine
idle automatically as the electrical load requires more power
from the vehicle's electrical system.
The
Problem
The vehicles alternator produces the least power at idle. Whenever
an emergency vehicle is parked at an emergency scene with the
engine running and the emergency lights, radios, computers, air
conditioning or heat on the system requires the most power and
the alternator is producing the least. When the engine idle increases
the power of the alternator increases.
The
Solution
The Electronic Engine Idler will automatically sense the need
for more power and raise the engine idle increasing the alternator
output.
How
it Works
Wired into the vehicle's electrical system the Engine Idler will
sense when the voltage drops below 12.1 volts. This sends a signal
to a sense wire on diesel vehicles or a vacuum switch and vacuum
actuator on gas models. This will increase the engine speed via
adjustments at the time of installation. This raises the engine
idle from approximately 800 RPM to 1200 RPM, increasing the alternator
power output. The voltage sensing portion is adjustable and a
power indicator is included on the control module. All components
connect via a data cable to the control panel which can be remotely
installed requiring a 2" hole 1" deep. The control panel
will indicate low voltage and engine idler status.
Monitors
Voltage
The TCS-100 Engine Idler continuously monitors the electrical
load and will engage and raise the engine RPM to a preset speed
when the voltage drop exceeds the alternator output for greater
than 20 seconds. The speed is set by the manufacturers ECM. On
gas engines the system can be adjusted from standard idle to approximately
1100 to 1300 RPM.
Applications
The TCS-100 Engine Idler can be utilized by Law Enforcement, EMS
and Fire
Vehicles as well as commercial applications such as Tow Trucks,
Maintenance
and Support Vehicles or any vehicle running equipment that will
put a load on
the electrical system.

Construction
The System components feature a modular, plug in design that is
simple to
install. In some cases the system can be installed in under an
hour. The Control
Panel fits in a 2" hole requiring only 1" of depth and
connects to the control
module via a data cable similar to a computer. The electronic
module can be
installed under the dash near the electrical connections. The
under hood
components work from vacuum and can be easily placed in the engine
compartment. This is NOT a cable and solenoid operated system.
On diesels the
TCS-100 is wired directly into the ECM.
